Hem arrives: Windows RC 1 and iPhone testing.

A little browser. A lot of web. Hem’s first Windows release candidate is available, while a native iOS build is being tested on iPhone.

Meet Hem, our ultra-minimal browser built around a quieter frame and more room for the web. The first Windows release candidate, 0.1.0-rc.1, is available to try from the official Hem website. Development has also reached a working iPhone test build.

Windows RC 1: a smaller frame, familiar essentials.

Hem brings compact tabs and address entry into a narrow, colorable frame with square controls. Click the active tab to enter an address or search, and choose your preferred search provider in settings.

Customizable context menus put useful actions within reach, including grouped screenshot tools and personal actions for opening pages or running page scripts. Preset frame colors and a custom color option help make the browser feel like your own.

The Windows build uses Chromium. RC 1 is a portable Windows x64 ZIP: extract the complete archive and open Hem.exe, keeping its runtime files together. It is an unsigned evaluation release candidate; publisher validation remains pending. It is not a final stable release.

Hem is running on iPhone.

Private iOS testing is underway on a physical iPhone. Browsing, address-bar search and search-provider selection have been exercised, alongside screenshot capture, screenshot-type choices, saving to Photos or Files, sharing, preset colors and long-press tab actions.

The iOS app uses the system WebKit engine and a native mobile interface. It carries the same minimal visual direction while adapting controls to touch. Experimental personal page rules are also entering testing, with editable presets and room for users to write their own CSS or JavaScript.

What is available today.

Windows RC 1 is publicly available. iOS remains in development and private testing, with no public App Store release or public iOS download announced. Linux, Android and macOS are also in development. Features and testing progress vary by platform; no release date has been announced.

Visit Hem’s website for polished interface screenshots, current platform status, Windows download details and release notes. We will share more as testing continues.
