StorageProof development build 0.8.3 improves the information retained in reports from deeper capacity-file tests. Saved reports now preserve write and readback progress and elapsed phase times, including when a run is interrupted or canceled.
Preserve the work a test reached.
A test that does not reach completion can still contain useful information about its progress. This development update retains those measurements in the report rather than losing them when the run ends early.
Write and readback progress are recorded alongside the elapsed time for the relevant phases. Reopening a saved report preserves those measurements, so reviewing the result later does not remove that context.
Distinguish progress from verification.
Progress is kept separate from verified-byte evidence. A record of how far a test ran is not a claim that all of that work was successfully verified.
Interrupted tests remain incomplete. The report retains the partial information while continuing to make the run’s incomplete status clear.
Read older reports honestly.
Older records may not contain phase timing information. When those reports are reopened, the application indicates that timing was not captured rather than presenting a missing measurement as though it were a recorded result.
This distinction keeps the report meaningful across records created before and after the development change.
Validation and availability.
The work passed 163 automated tests using synthetic or application-owned data. Physical deeper-test validation remains outstanding. Those automated checks support the development change but do not replace validation with physical storage devices.
StorageProof remains in development. This article describes development progress; a public download has not been announced. Visit the product page for its current status or contact Hamelton Software with a question about the project.
